NDDOT Hiring Salary: $8,691 / month

Contract Administration/Project Management – Team Leader

Manage large and or complicated, federal aid projects on state and U. S. highways, urban areas, and interstate.
Manage multiple federal aid construction projects during same construction season.
Maintain knowledge of department procedures and policies related to office activities involving administration of construction procedures. Utilize computer and Construction Automated Records System (CARS) in preparation of progress reports, estimates, haul sheets, change orders and other project documents.
Negotiate change orders items with contractors. Approve all change orders under $10,000. Make recommendation for approval on all other change orders. As the Professional Engineer in responsible charge for assigned projects, stamp construction phase revisions that are within the inherent variability of normal construction practices and that do not affect the functional design requirement.
Conduct necessary EEO and labor compliance interviews required for project.
Oversee the inspectors on projects, making sure all details in the contract documents are adhered to. Advise, coach, and assist inspectors with questions on the projects. Oversee projects managed by other project managers.
Miscellaneous Duties

Urban project responsibilities to include familiarization of urban standards, procedures, and practices of major urban developments within the district.
Attend MPO meeting as the district representative and become familiar with Local Government policies and procedures. District technical advisory committee (TAC) Representative.
Review state, county and city preliminary concept reports and plans. Team lead for projects administered by consultant engineering firms and local public agencies.
Attend state, county, and city project Plan Specification and Estimate (PS&E).
Employee Supervision

Supervise Engineering Technicians, Transportation Engineers, Project Managers, and maintenance employees or temporary employees performing inspection duties, materials testing and surveying to ensure construction projects completed in accordance with contract requirements.
Schedule work assignments that offer diversity of work to provide and maintain interest and enthusiasm for work environment.
Conduct safety meetings to ensure awareness of working conditions such as working within heavy traffic areas and around heavy motorized construction equipment and taking proper precautions to maintain a safe working environment.
Provide proper training for personnel on departmental policies, inspection and materials testing procedures.
Complete Employee Appraisals. Document employee performance throughout the year meeting with the employee a minimum of once every three months.
Design

Review designs of all types of projects in the district.

Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a professional engineer in North Dakota within 6 months of start date.
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.
Minimum of four years of professional-level engineering work experience, including two years of supervisory or lead work experience.
Requires a class D driver’s license for travel to meetings and project locations.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, medical screening, reference check and driving records check.
